October 4th was a sunny and dry day - we were in luck for our Autumn Shoot at Doverdale Bowmen. 120 archers were booked in to shoot the 36 target course of mixed 3D and paper face Big Game.
The course had just been revamped which proved to be popular with the punters. A mixed bag of long and short shots made for a challenging shoot. One target across the pond seemed to be very popular as two of the archers taking part tried to walk on water and got stuck in the mud up to their waists. I am very glad they took it all in good part and they went on to shoot well for the rest of the day.
Many thanks to the catering staff for keeping a good supply of hot and cold drinks and also the excellent food which was prepared for lunch. Also thank you to all the members who helped making this shoot possible. Last but not least, a thank you to all the archers who took part and supported us, without them we would not have a shoot.
Doverdale Bowmen’s End of Year Club shoot took place on the 27th December. Targets of mixed 3D and paper faces were put out on the ‘B’ course with some very challenging shots.
Lunch was served of Thai curry and rice which was most welcoming on a very cold day but a good day was had by all. Our next open shoot will be on 25th April with hopefully warmer weather. Happy New Year to all members.
